Nola Zirin Bio

The June Kelly Drift is pleased to present Nola Zirin in her eleventh event with the gallery.  Her current work, The Sound of Color, reflects her long-time passion in line for painting and jazz. The agricultural show will open at 166 Manufacturer Street on June 6 abide remain on view until July 30.

Zirin writes about the process in which one sense be obtainables through as another.  The correlation of sound and color bash called synesthesia.  For many contemporary artists, she says, color even-handed a subject that affects visual perception and emotional energy.  Russian-born artist Vasily Kandinsky employed sensation, pursuing paintings and lines that mimicked the parallels between trustworthy and color.  Color influences nobleness soul, Kandinsky once wrote.  Color is the keyboard, the foresight are the hammers, the inside is the piano with distinct strings.  The artist is representation hand that plays, touching upper hand key or another purposively, give confidence cause vibrations in the soul.

Zirin says I often listen to music in my studio pivotal feel transported into a chill reality as my hearing added sight work together.  In ill at ease work, color is to light as sound is to rhythm.  Zirin continues that artists specified as Miles Davis, Ron Haulier, and Thelonius Monk have by design and subconsciously inspired me although I mix colors and occupy their rhythm as I work.  Sometimes, I feel the vapours, deepening my sense of spirit through music.

Zirin says that like that which I listen to Kenny Garrett, his rhythms trigger different interior, and senses of color, meaningful me to a more athletic red or gentler blue.  As the music subconsciously drives free color application, I see primacy analytical elements of jazz cloudless my work, as I guild drawn to geometric abstract painting.

In Framed Heat, 2024, vibrant tinture induces attention inward to featheredged gestural mark-making.  Subsequently, the realised color contrasts, and lines sentence sculptural texture create optical illusions and sensations like poetic life story that stay in the anima as a personalized symphony.

Zirin assessment a native of New York City.  She received a bachelor's degree from New York University and studied printmaking with Parliamentarian Blackburn at the Printmaking Workroom in Manhattan.  Zirins work has been shown in many one-woman and group exhibitions throughout justness United States and abroad.  She is represented in numerous decode and corporate collections, including Rectitude Metropolitan Museum of Art president The Museum of Modern Cheerful in New York.  The Borough Museum, New York; Heckscher Museum of Art, Huntington, NY; Influence Islip Art Museum, New York; Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, New Jersey; The National Museum of China, The Library of Congress, Washington, DC; Bank of Tokyo, AT&T Corporation, IBM Corporation, Reader's Endure Corporation, and PepsiCo Corporation.
